Position Summary:

Under general supervision, prepare cost estimates by analyzing prints and information, to produce materials and labor numbers to aid sales staff in bidding on or determining price of product or service.

Essential Functions:
  1. Read and understand proposal requests.
  2. Read, understand, and interpret prints.
  3. Demonstrate ability to communicate and understand industrial language.
  4. Travel to job sites and understand work required.
  5. Prepare estimates used by management or sales staff for quoting jobs.
  6. Use the Laron Customer Relationship Management System (CRMS) to enter and manage quotations.

Planning, organizing and scheduling work.

3. Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  1. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  2. Ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words.
  3. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  4. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  5. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  6. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  7. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  8. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatical from and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  9. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and quality control
  10. Ability to display critical thinking by using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  11. Ability to estimate the quantifiable characteristics of products or information by estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed.
  12. Strong orientation for detail accuracy, ability to effectively prioritize and efficiently multi-task and thorough completion of all work tasks.
  13. Above average computer competency. Word processing, spreadsheets, and project planning proficiency desirable.
  14. Ability to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with stressful situations.


Training/Education and/or Special Qualifications:

Three to six months related experience and/or training; one-year certificate from college or technical school; or equivalent combination of experience and education

Physical Requirements and Environment:
  • Work involves standing, walking, sitting, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and a large percentage of time spent talking and listening.
  • Lifting varying weights ranging from 10 up to 100 pounds
  • Vision requirements include clear vision at 20 inches or less, ability to identify and distinguish colors, three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships.
  • Work environment may include working in wet or humid conditions (non weather related), being in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, all variety of outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold or heat (non weather related), risk of electrical shock, exposure to secondhand smoke and risk of radiation.
  • Noise levels are usually of a moderate level on the same level of a business with computers and printers.
  • The possibility of loud noises when on the shop floor or while out on a customer location
