Machinist

Pay Range: $24.82 - $41.47

Keller Electrical is looking for a Machinist to join our team in Phoenix, AZ!

As a Machinist you will be responsible for operating and maintaining precision machining tools to create parts to exact specifications, utilizing skills in mathematics and measurement instruments, and performing preventive maintenance and modifications. Responsibilities include setting up machines, monitoring their operation, and ensuring finished products meet quality standards.

What You'll Do :

  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematical knowledge and instruments such as micrometers and veneer calipers.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, machines, and materials onto machines; set controls to regulate machining, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process; machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
  • Perform preventive maintenance according to published guidelines; interpret technical manuals to assist in machine setup and troubleshooting.
  • Bore and sleeve end brackets; flame spray bearing journals or sleeve bearing journals; mix and apply Belzona or other epoxy coatings on shafts and finish machine; bore, key, and drill set screw holes on gears, hubs, couplings, and fans; machine imperial and metric threads, internal and external; machine and fit tapered shafts and hubs; machine modifications for bearing temperature sensors, Impro seals, and corrosion protection.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on shop equipment, troubleshoot and repair shop machinery, complete daily maintenance and repair logs, and write and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Select and secure appropriate tools, machines, and materials for machinery work, communicate with operators from other shifts, maintain and clean work area and tools, and ensure equipment is turned off and locked out when not in use.


What You'll Need:

Minimum 5 years of machining experience
  • Experienced in the operation of medium sized horizontal lathes, precision lathes, horizontal and vertical boring mills.
  • Experienced in machining small to large rotating equipment and supporting pieces.
  • Significant mechanical knowledge and/or experience.
  • Highly motivated with interpersonal skills to effectively work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Safety conscious for self and others on the team.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and/or be available on call to satisfy emergency customer requests.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment and effective time management in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
  • Be self-sufficient, have excellent problem-solving skills, and work efficiently with a high level of accuracy.
