Job Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer role is to design, troubleshoot, install, and commission complex industrial finishing and dispensing systems. The Mechanical Engineer will work amongst a team of highly technical mechanical, electrical, and controls experts in the finishing and dispensing industries. Responsible for the design of the mechanical drawing package, component specification, and successful startup and commissioning of finishing and dispensing systems.

Job Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer role is to design, troubleshoot, install, and commission complex industrial finishing and dispensing systems. The Mechanical Engineer will work amongst a team of highly technical mechanical, electrical, and controls experts in the finishing and dispensing industries. Responsible for the design of the mechanical drawing package, component specification, and successful startup and commissioning of finishing and dispensing systems.
Principal Job Duties:
- Work directly with mechanical, electrical and controls engineers in the designing and commissioning of multiple projects with strict and overlapping schedules.
- Advise on mechanical and fluid delivery aspects of engineering projects, and work closely with the other functions of the engineering group such as, Operations, Electrical/Controls Engineering, Project Management, Installation, etc.
- Interpret customer/sales specifications and scopes of work and collaborate with the engineering team in mechanical design in accordance with governing industrial codes, i.e. NFPA, etc.
- Collaborate and mentor anytime the opportunity is seen with all Engineering/Project Management to specify, source and manage lead times on machine components, fluid handling/delivery components and pneumatic components and assemblies and equipment required to meet the customers desired application.
- Collaborate with the mechanical and electrical engineers to develop and implement standards (references in some cases) for mechanical drawings, fluid power Dwg.'s and pneumatic Dwg.'s in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or wherever OTC lands on the CAD package for the company. Including but not limited to 2D, 3D, Exploded Views, and assembly Dwg.'s.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers and managers to develop and expand SolidWorks PDM database.
- Work with the Engineering Teams/Managers to:
- Identify opportunities and assist in developing BOM's for use with sales and quoting personnel.
- Identify opportunities and assist in developing for process, procedure, and parts/assemblies.
- Develop best practices and improve overall efficiency within the engineering group.
- Prepare project cost roll-up at completion, prepare report for the team to measure "Best in Class" performance for every project.
- Participate in team meetings as required for project development.
- Work with Project Managers to:
- Identify opportunities and assist in developing vendor stocking programs for std. products.
- Identify opportunities and assist in developing alternate vendor programs.
- Work with vendors to establish initial quotes on new parts and promote cost reduction where sensible.
- Participate in team meetings as required for project development.
- Work with our OTC ESG Partners to:
- Identify and communicate opportunities and assist in developing new or updated software/features for current products such as SolidWorks PDM.
- Be the first point of contact to introduce new products and systems from our partners to ESG's engineering teams.
- Train, Mentor and assist in developing all ESG internal associated materials.

- Assist in the integrating of Robotic Systems:
- Fanuc, ABB, Motoman
- Create designs in line with company procedures, regulations and client standards.
- Design products using CAD and consult with engineering and fabrication teammates to ensure that designs are feasible.
- Calculate factors such as tolerances, dimensions, and thermal and structural analysis.
- Finalize designs and send prints to fabrication vendors and internal technicians.
- Revise existing ESG standard products to leverage more efficient, cost effective, and better-quality design principles.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and machine shop practices is an asset.
- Review all mechanical, fluid, and pneumatics BOM's and Dwg.'s with attention to detail and excellent workmanship prior to production release. ("Best in Class" mentality)
- Sizing and selection of third-party equipment (valves, instruments, pumps, exchangers, motion equipment, conveyors, automatic feeders, robotics, etc.)
- Sizing and design of fabricated equipment (reciprocators, pump panels, paint booths, cure ovens, safety cells, sensors, motors, etc.)
- Develop best practices and improve overall efficiency within the engineering group.
- Desire and ability to learn new mechanical concepts and equipment.
- Support and provide guidance to project teams in all project phases from design, commissioning, to customer sign-off.
- Work closely with the engineering sales team to develop accurate project bids with a focus on the mechanical and fluid delivery componentry.

- Assist in the testing, installation and commissioning of equipment both at internal company facilities and customer locations as required.

Qualifications:
- BSME from a four-year accredited school. (Will consider two-year degree by candidate and experience of 5-7 years or more working in related field).
- 3+ years' experience in mechanical engineer position; specifically including manufacturing industry experience in the design of highly automated machines and processes preferred, and experience in Finishing and/or Dispensing a plus, specifically (Liquid Painting, Powder Coating, and Dispensing Technology).
- Experienced in the design and troubleshooting of machinery equipment.
- Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing mechanical systems and products
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply technical and scientific product-related information.
- Knowledge of drafting techniques / engineering terminology and ability to create detailed mechanical drawings and fluid schematics.
- Experience with Industrial Safety Application Equipment and developing and integrating Robotic Systems a plus.
- Must be self-motivated and a great team worker.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.
- Must be able to travel up to 25% with possible overnight stay.
