OVERVIEW:
Safety Manager will work with leadership and managers to create a culture in compliance with all local, state, MSHA and federal OSHA regulations, along with company and client safety policies and requirements. The Safety Manager is our hands-on safety team member present on all field and shop job sites ensuring the safety and well-being of not only our field crew members, but everyone at our facilities or on our job sites.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- This position provides the managerial and leadership skills necessary to insure a high degree of safety in the workplace, including manufacturing and repair facilities, construction sites, mining sites and power plants.
- Create site specific or job specific safety plans.
- Attend and review daily Pre-Task assignments to reflect work being performed.
- Create, plan, coordinate, and implement Safety programs to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions.
- Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
- Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes.
- Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures.
- Report or review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing.
- Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment. Perform other job-related training, documentation, and retention documents within a training database.
- Review safety programs to determine their adequacy.
- Interview employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace incidents.
- Review plans and specifications for construction of new machinery or equipment to determine whether all safety requirements have been met.
- Assist with workers compensation administrative functions and OSHA recording requirements.
- Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.
- Conduct or direct testing of air quality, noise, temperature, or radiation levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist with keeping business units in compliance on online contractor management databases such as ISNetworld, Avetta, and Veriforce.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a bachelors degree in a safety or EHS related field preferred
- Five (5) years of related experience as a safety professional in heavy industrial facility and mining operations
- Previous industrial maintenance experience and ability to work effectively with tradesmen
- Specialized Knowledge of Certificates & Licenses preferred in the following areas: OSHA 500 certification, First Aid/CPR certified, MSHA certification
- Understanding of OSHA standards, in particular; Steel Erection, fall protection, cranes, rigging, and heavy construction
- Knowledge of PPE, HAZCOM, Confined Space, and Fall Protection procedures
- Knowledge of OSHA, ADOSH, Cal OSHA, and EPA rules and regulations
- Knowledge of all other applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations
