The primary objective is to provide unmatched customer experiences and demonstrate JCI's Winning Behaviors that influence a positive culture, safety first attitude, relationship building, and impacts revenue growth and profitability. The Service Technician has experience in maintenance, preventative maintenance, and electrical repair. This includes experience in rotating equipment repair, basic equipment maintenance, rotating equipment alignments, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, electrical monitoring, control panel startups, control setting adjustments, and predictive maintenance.

Essential Duties:
  • Communicate predictive/preventive maintenance process and importance to customers
  • Perform visual inspections on rotating equipment and electrical equipment
  • Perform basic OEM recommended equipment Preventative Maintenance
  • Perform Predictive Maintenance testing including vibration, electrical analysis, alignment, and dynamic balancing
  • Communicate recommended corrective action including replacement of equipment as necessary
  • Direct communication with customers on requests, scheduling, and inspection results
  • Technical understanding of OTC Industrial product lines and applications for each
  • Document findings and test results
  • Collaborate with Service Department to create customer asset condition reports
  • Collaborate with Sales, Service, Engineering, and Operations as necessary

Additional Potential Duties:
  • Rotating Equipment assembly/disassembly
  • Remove/reinstall pumps and motors
  • Install seals/packing
  • Perform minor field repairs
  • Perform start-ups/commissioning of equipment
  • Perform field dynamic balancing

Basic Equipment Maintenance:
  • Change oil/grease on various pumps, gear boxes, motors, etc.
  • Diagnose and correct basic mechanical issues

Basic Electrical:
  • Troubleshoot low voltage systems (< 600-volt)
  • Remove and/or install new or repaired low voltage equipment
  • PLC and VFD troubleshooting
  • General electrical installations such as wire pulling and terminations
  • Conduit, panel board, and basic electrical device installations

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Fundamental understanding of rotating equipment and electrical equipment
  • Fundamental understanding and experience with Preventative Maintenance practices
  • Fundamental understanding and experience with Predictive Maintenance testing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and self-guided
  • Capable of using and reading precision measuring devices, such as micrometers and calipers
  • Able to wear personal protection equipment, including a respirator as necessary
  • Ability to work overtime hours based on customer demands
  • Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Understanding of exploded diagrams or cross-sectional drawings
  • Ability to communicate with manufacturers remotely for on-site diagnosis/troubleshooting

Requirements:
  • High School or equivalent, with mechanical aptitude and skills
  • 5 years of rotating equipment repair, maintenance, and/or preventative maintenance experience
  • ISO CAT II vibration certified preferred
  • Equipment dynamic balancing experience preferred
  • Able to obtain MEC (Medical Examiner's Certificate) under DOT as a 'non-CDL' commercial motor vehicle driver
  • Maintain clean driving record
  • Proficient with computer and software use such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Proficient with tablet and smart phone app based programs
  • Up to 75% travel. Territory is within the Midwest. 1-2 day travel will be the norm.
  • Willing to take after hour calls

Physical Demands/Environment:
  • Must be able to hear sounds and designate differences between them, and talk via telephone and electronic devices in the workplace
  • Ability to operate and read from computer/laptop monitor
  • See differences between colors, shades, and brightness
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. consistently
  • Variable work environment - work is conducted both indoors and outdoors with varying environmental conditions at customer, vendor, and OTC facilities
  • Fast-paced environment, subject to schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
  • Ability to work outdoors and possibly in inclement weather
  • Willingness to work in wastewater environments as necessary
