Lead Electric Motor Winder – OTC Spartanburg, SC

Competitive Pay:
This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $35.00/hr. to $44.00/hr., depending on experience and qualifications. 

New hires are eligible for a $10,000.00 sign-on bonus under the compensation and reloaction if needed.

We're building something great in Spartanburg, SC—and we're looking for a hands-on leader to help drive it forward. OTC Industrial Technologies is seeking a Lead Electric Motor Winder to supervise and mentor our motor winding team at our new Spartanburg repair shop. This is a unique opportunity to shape the culture, standards, and success of a modern motor shop from day one.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and participate in the teardown, inspection, winding, reassembly, and testing of low- and medium-voltage electric motors
  • Provide daily direction to winding personnel, ensuring work is completed safely, correctly, and on time
  • Train and coach new and experienced winders in best practices and shop standards
  • Review work scopes, delegate tasks, and monitor quality at every step of the repair process
  • Diagnose motor failure modes and recommend repair approaches that improve long-term reliability
  • Perform and oversee core loss, megger, and surge testing procedures
  • Maintain an orderly and efficient winding area, ensuring tools, materials, and documentation are well-managed
  • Coordinate with the Shop Manager and Service Coordinator on job scheduling, parts needs, and customer priorities
  • Set the tone for a safety-first, team-driven environment where quality craftsmanship matters
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours service needs as required

What You'll Need:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in electric motor winding, including AC/DC stators, armatures, and fields
  • Strong understanding of motor repair fundamentals and winding techniques
  • Experience training or leading other technicians in a shop setting
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and use precision measuring tools
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work on your feet throughout the day
  • Comfortable working with PPE and around industrial equipment
  • Strong organizational skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to respond to emergency service calls, including evenings and weekends
